scrapbooking: on the road.

i am so excited to finally share my travel "insta-on-the-road" scrapbook today.  i had the best time creating this "ready-made" album and to be honest i may have just came across my latest love and addiction.

there are numerous reasons why i absolutely adore the heidi swapp wood albums from michaels, but after creating this project i think this has to be #1.  they are SO versatile, accessible, you can pretty much do ANYTHING to them and they are just fabulous!  i also love how they come with key rings so that you can always add what you want to these books easily and effortlessly.
i had such a great time decorating the cover of this album.  after playing around with a few ideas and with some inspiration i learned from Mrs. Heidi herself courtesy of her stencil magic online class (available now) i was eager to take my own spin on things and try out some of her awesome ideas and tips.  for this book i played with her stencils, mod-podge and some glitter.  i really have to say that mod-podge is a FABULOUS medium for working with these albums...especially if you are having difficulties adhering papers and products to the wood cover.  mod-podge works amazingly well and i love the overall finish it gives the cover once complete.  SO fun.  i even created the album titles using my silhouette, color shine and some words from her digital brush kits.  creating customized titles for projects using her handwriting is one of my ALL time favourite things to do!

i kept the inside pages super simple and a "blank canvas" essentially.  i will be taking this album on the road with me in september to montana and i cannot wait to begin to fill it with notes, photos, memorabilia and journaling.  how easy is this going to be? it's ALL ready and ready for STUFF.

i mixed various heidi swapp collections in this book. no limits, color pop, vintage chic, sugar chic....memory files.  they all coordinate SO fabulously.  make sure to check out the entire breakdown today on heid's blog! i share all of the details and even MORE photos over there.

not only did i have an awesome time creating this album, but it definitely made me excited for future possibilities in creating similar type albums down the road.  gifts, journals, planners....there are SO many ideas that ready-made albums will work for.

thanks for stopping by, hope you have been inspired to play with some fun techniques, experiment with those amazing stencils and even try out some mod-podge! it may just turn out to be your new best friend! ;)
