HELLO 5 I 5 WAYS ART WALK TOOK CENTER STAGE IN MY MEMORY PLANNER

hello everyone and welcome to a little flashback into my memory planner.

all the way back to february to be exact.

gosh...february. what in the world.  that seems so far away, but yet not so long ago.

anyway, back to the memory planner.  

i thought it would be fun to share just how easy it is to use product from a collection in 5 different ways.  sometimes it can seem so overwhelming, but honestly in the end it all fits together like a perfectly made puzzle.

 

this week i chose to showcase art walk.

one of my favourite collections.

i love the artsy mixed media vibe, but with zero mess.

i loved using the following 5 products to pull my entire spread together.

i used the 6x8 paper pad, definition stickers, washi tape, 6x12 sticker sheet and alpha stickers primarily in this layout.  all from art walk.  they all play a different role in helping to bring the week together.

paper from the 6x8 paper pad lends itself beautifully to filling up otherwise empty blank space.  i also created some photo corners out of the paper as well as titles to prompt journaling.

the black alpha stickers make for great headings.  i love these bold letters.  they captivate instantly.  also definition stickers are a great addition when wanting to add a bit of 'emotion' to a page.  the compliment photos beautifully and enhance the overall mood of a page.

i used stickers from the 6x12 sticker sheet to not only add additonal fun details, but the labels that come with the set are also fabulous for journaling spots

the colorful washi also adds the perfect amount of color.  not only does it look great as a decorative detail but it also a gread addition to add on top of photos.  can never go wrong with coordinating washi tape.  it is one of my favourite ways to add photos into my planner, and the beautiful designs.  happiness right here.

at the end of the day, the moral of my story...this story is that it does not have to be complicated.  supplies used in the most basic of ways all work together so easily that it makes the end game look like it took forever.  which honestly was hardly the case. i only wish i had uninterrupted hours to memory plan!

so in summary:

-paper pads are amazing tools to use.  use patterns to fill up empty space or create additional elements such as die cuts.  for instance with this particular pattern paper from art walk i was able to cut apart the words and create titles.

-definition stickers are a great way to caption a photo, add extra sentiment to journaling and they just look awesome.

-washi tape is not only a standard decorative/functional piece but it also looks great securing photos on a spread.

-alphabet stickers are fabulous to combine and create custom headings and titles.

-sticker sheets are a great investment.  not only do they come with a variety of options, but most of the time they come with labels that offer great places to journal as well.

i hope that these tips are helpful in beginning your memory planner journey.  they are great little tools to help create beautiful memorable spreads that also provide a lot of functional practicality as well.

EASTER CARDS & ART WALK I BACKING A CUT FILE

welcome to a super fun and easy spring/easter card idea you are sure to love.  whenever i post cards i always feel the need to preface my posts and say that i truly do not consider myself a "card maker".  however i am always amazed at just how easy it can be to look like quite a skilled card maker with the right supplies in hand.  it truly makes all the difference and makes it so easy to create something that looks fabulous!

i wanted to create some fun spring inspired / easter cards using my favourite papers from the heidi swapp art walk paper pads.  this collection is a favourite of mine for many reasons.  i think the top one is that it is full of gorgeously bright designs that make any project pop!  there is also a touch of mixed media to the collection which always adds a beautiful visual and presentation.  because these paper pads already come made with the mixed media pages, i am loving that even more! i do not have to neither create nor clean up any (additional) mess haha. 

i recently purchased an electronic die cutting machine, so to create my eggs i just searched out an egg template cut file and had it cut out of white cardstock.  i want to use the 6x8 art walk papers to back my eggs giving them a beautiful design.  i then chose to matt the eggs onto the coordinating solids from the 12x12 paper pad...which i have adhered to basic white card stock cards.

isn't it just amazing how such a basic technique can transform into something that looks like it took hours to create?

i used this amazing new set of stamps from tim holtz to add the sentiments to my cards, i just love them so much.  i also love the additional ink i applied to the background using coordinating colors of inks using the splatter stamp found in this same set.

see? so simple. yet pretty and perfect and looks like it took literal hours when it was nothing but minutes.  got to love a good combo when you find one. 

 

add cards into gift baskets, easter goodies and treats.  truly the sweetest finishing touch.

BE YOUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL I DIY MINC TAG

 sharing a little tag love today, and some animal print obsession....cause why not?

 

i actually have been having the best time experimenting with the minc surface paper pad...and this is total proof of why you need this paper pad in your life. there are a million ways to use this paper pad...and to be honest for the longest time i was never really sure what to do with the 'glue papers' that are included in the pad.  well, they really are a game changer my friends! 

what are the glue papers? they are a white paper, heavy cardstock with a film on them that will adhere to the minc foil when ran through the minc machine.  they are thicker with a subtle texture and take on the foil like a dream. it really is fabulous!

i used a tag die cut to cut out a tag from the glue sheet.  in the pad it is plain white...ready for the minc

magic to come along.  and hello animal print foil.  you guys. this foil is fabulous!!!  

again, here i used a tag but you can use this technique with all types of dies....use it in your electronic die cutting machine as well. it really is limitless what you can create with this paper. the beauty of it is the ability to take it one step further with minc foiling. i just love it.

 

i mean....just LOOK at that coverage. seamless and the shine just cannot be beat. i love this stuff!

i then had the best time accessorizing my tag with some art walk favourites.

these stamps are so fun to add a little bit of additional character and texture to papers, pages...literally whatever you can stamp on these are just awesome for that. here let me show you!

isn't it so fun what they add? just that subtle touch. i love it.

just a little simple project, but with super fun techniques and details that are so doable and just make paper crafting a little more glam :) . to be honest i made this tag for me, and i cannot wait to put it in my memory planner.  we always need reminders every now and then :) .

LOVE LOVE LOVE I MIXED MEDIA MINC

 

hello everyone and welcome to a fun mixed media minc page.

this is one of my newest pages that uses some of my favourite products and techniques.  plus inspiration i learned from the heidi swapp minc love class...which i highly recommend.

such a great way to get inspired!

the concept of this page is based around the magic that is the minc texture paste.

i just love this stuff.

you can find it in both white (pictured) or clear.  they both work the same ideally...but the white is unique in that it can stand alone, if you so wish not to add foil or additional color to it.

texture paste is just the "right amount" of mixed media for me....and works beautifully with stencils and the minc.  i am not really a "get messy" crafter, so sometimes working with products that are more on the messy side can make me overwhelmed.  however i always love mixed media projects.  i love products like this one that give me those effects without creating a huge clean up at the end. texture paste is pretty basic, and clean up is minimal. 

to be honest, up until i took the minc love class i did not realize that the texture paste can be used with the minc glitter sheets too!  seriously, i had no idea!

the glitter sheets are a fabulous way to apply glitter to projects, that does NOT come off your projects.  it honestly stays put and looks fabulous.  i wish i would have known this sooner but alas! it is what it is. now that i do know though, i need to get my hands on more of these glitter sheets because they are SO much fun to play with.

so i went ahead and added texture paste to my page using these art walk stencils.  

the key to texture paste, just like any other medium is making sure that it is fully dry before moving on to the next step.  that step here being the glitter sheets and foiling.

so once my medium was fully dry, i then applied my glitter sheets and foil to the top.  

remember, foil is always foil side up, but glitter is glitter side down.

then i ran my project through my minc on heat setting 4.  

you can see from the reveal how incredible and with such ease the glitter adheres to the texture paste.  plus with the bit of added dimension from the paste, the glitter has just the right amount of "pop".

and that matte champagne foil just never gets old. i love it so much.  

and there you have it, the perfect mixed media background page ready to go.

to complete my page i added some additional art walk elements and embellishments, die cuts, stamping and a photo along with some type text. all products used are heidi swapp.

there are so many fun elements that came together to create this latest page of mine.  i really encourage you to get your hands on some of this stuff.  the texture paste is extremely easy to use and when paired with the minc it takes on a whole new level of creativity and fun.  

i know i am just getting started with this stuff!

HANDMADE FROM THE HEART I DIY ORNAMENTS

holiday traditions for me always include something handmade.  there is just something special about taking the intention and handcrafting something unique in honour of the present year.

 

one of these traditions always includes a handmade ornament, or two.

 

i loved creating this years ornament because not only does it involve my favourite paper collection release of this year, Heidi Swapp Art Walk...it includes mini photos of my kiddos.  truly nothing better than that!

these ornaments are actually super easy to create and handcraft.  i used my electronic cutting machine and paper ornament cut files to create the base of my ornaments.  the assembly is also super easy. all of the pieces adhere to each other and are scored so when you the final die cut it wraps around and transforms into a beautiful 3D ornament.  think the 80's crepe paper wedding decor, same idea! ;)

i further embellished the ornaments using dies from this winter wonderland heidi swapp set available here.

and there you go, ready for the tree.  i love having these ornaments added to my collection.

not only do these make incredible keepsakes for yourself, but also a beautiful gift for others.  i hope you are inspired to handmake a set of ornaments for your tree this year.

DIY ART WALK JOURNAL I LAST 90 DAYS

today's project comes courtesy of october 1st and the official "last 90 days" of 2020.

the premise of the last 90 days is all about finishing the year strong.  we all have been through something this past year with all the things, so having a project about finishing a year stronger and not so defeated is something i can totally get on board with right now.

the last 90 days is all about documenting 5 key components to habit setting and building a stronger mental state.  those being:

• a daily gratitude practice
• getting enough water daily
• moving ones body for 30 minutes
• giving up one food group that you know is not serving you the best
• getting up one hour earlier a day to use the time for yourself
  

so to track these 5 daily targets i decided to use some of my favourite supplies to create my own daily tracking journal.  i used some favourite papers from art walk to build my covers, my minc machine to assist in the lamination of my covers (yes cause you can also laminate with it...and it is awesome) and my cinch machine to bind it all together with a coil binding.

once my supplies were gathered i trimmed my covers to desired size and adhered my pattern paper to both the inside and outside of this thin chipboard.

once covers are complete, its time to run it through the minc with lamination pouches to create a nice and sturdy cover.

once covers are laminated its time to compile the journal!

the cinch is such an amazing tool. i love creating all kinds of books with it.

the key with the cinch is placing all your inside pages first, then the front cover and then the back cover. once bound, the cover will flip back around and your project will be complete.

i love how easy these tools and supplies make it to create any and every kind of journal for all the things. last 90 days here we go!
